Hi! I’m Joey and I want to thank you for dropping by Peregrine Vision Services. This is my new website and blog. My hope and desire is to use this as a platform to share some insight with you that will help you grow and make positive changes in your personal and professional life. But most of all, I want to share life with you and have some fun as we journey together.
Let me tell you a little about me and where the name of the site comes from. I have been finding ways to make money since I was 10 years old…unfortunately, it was never a lot of money but it kept me well supplied with candy and toys! I helped my dad start a business when I was 16 and worked with him through college. After getting an engineering degree I spent a career in manufacturing as a project engineer, plant engineer and retired as a plant manager. Through my career I learned a lot about managing…mostly by making decisions that didn’t work so well. But as I worked through my career, I developed some rules that helped me manage people, business and myself. I call them Carter’s Laws and I’ll be sharing those with you through the blog.
One of my passions has become helping people with personal finance. My wife and I found Dave Ramsey several years ago and went through FPU and subsequently have facilitated many more sessions of FPU. I have seen so many lives changed through learning proper money management and developing an intense focus on getting out of debt and striving toward financial independence. I love the FIRE community and will share some of the ideas from different FIRE bloggers. I will share thoughts and methods here to help you on a journey to aggressively destroy your debt and build a more stress-free financial future for you and your family.
One of my more recent pleasures is camping. Our children have left home and are spread out across the country so we’ve used camping as a way of getting to them on a regular basis. We have great friends who have been campers for over 30 years or more and they’ve been asking us for the past 25 years to join them. Other than spending a couple of nights in a cabin beside them, we’ve resisted…that is until a couple of years ago. We bought a travel trailer and fell in love with camping. So much so that we upgraded to a Class A motor home and now use it to visit our children. We are not experts, I’m not sure anyone really is! But I’ll share with you some of our adventures and thoughts on camping
So why Peregrine Vision? It really goes back to just after marriage in 1984 and we began feeding and watching birds. I became very interested in raptors…eagles, falcons, hawks. They’re fascinating creatures to me. The Peregrine Falcon has become one of my favorites. They have very unique eyesight and can actually tract multiple targets simultaneously. Once they zero in on a target, they dive at speeds in excess of 200 miles an hour and strike the target on the fly.
I see analogies in life – particularly in the area of management. We seem to always have multiple issues facing us that we have to deal with. And, many times, if we don’t deal with them quickly, little issues can become bigger. I want to help you (and me!) recognize the “targets” in our life and then help you attack them. I help you have the vision to see a future that is better – whether it’s in the area of personal finance, managing life or business, and even recreation – and help you implement change. In short, let’s see a better tomorrow!
So, there it is. The reason we’re here. I look forward to taking this journey with you.
